About Portfolio82

Portfolio82 is a free, subject-indexed web directory modelled on the reference gazetteer: each of the 826 listed websites is filed under one of twenty-two subject headings, giving visitors a structured and browseable index to resources across the open web. The project was established on the principle that a well-organised directory, maintained by human review, offers a reliable complement to automated search.

The twenty-two subject headings span a wide range of fields — from automotive and construction through finance, healthcare, travel, and technology. Each section functions as a chapter in the Portfolio82 index, documenting the resources catalogued under that subject in a consistent format. Visitors can browse a single section in full or move between subjects using the category index on the home page.

Submission to Portfolio82 is open to all site owners and operators, without charge. Once a submission is received, it is reviewed against the directory's basic criteria — the site must be live, accessible, and assignable to one of the existing subject categories. Resources that meet these criteria are added to the relevant section of the index within a reasonable period.

The directory does not rank or score entries, nor does it prioritise listings by commercial relationship. Every resource in the index is presented on an equal footing, with the same entry format across all twenty-two sections. This reflects Portfolio82's purpose as a neutral reference index rather than a promotional platform.

Portfolio82 is updated on an ongoing basis as new submissions are reviewed and approved. The index is freely available for browsing at any time, and the Add a Site form remains open for new submissions throughout.
